The Shivamata has been designed based on the principles of traditional Chinese acupressure and moxa therapy as well as on the basis of the ancient system of body care practiced by the Indian yoga masters. Its action consists of non-invasive acupressure. Upon contact with the skin, 6000 delicate spikes press the canals and points of individual body parts (so-called meridians). The Shivamata is suitable for both adults and children.
Lay down comfortably making sure that your whole back, particularly your lower back, touches the mat. Bend your knees and place your feet flat on the ground. Try to relax and breathe deeply.
Result: The exercise stimulates the acupressure and nerve points located around the vertebrae and helps in many back ailments.Place the Shivamata under your buttocks. You can perform the exercise in thin cotton pants until your skin adapts to the exercise.
Result: You will release tension in the lower back section and buttocks which will provide stability and energy. This is the perfect exercise for people suffering from sciatica.Delicately place your cheek on the Shivamata. Since the skin on the face is delicate, begin by using a thin cloth.
Result: Tension is released in the jaw and nape of the neck and the face gains a healthy glow. This exercise helps when there is tension in the face and grinding of teeth.Stand barefoot on the Shivamata. Beginners may use thin socks.
Result: Shivamata stimulates impulse zones that affect the whole body.Lay on your stomach with your hands placed alongside your body or underneath your head. Women may place a towel under the chest to reduce the pressure.
Result: This exercise helps release tension in the diaphragm and increases metabolism. This position reduces stress and improves respiration.Beginners or persons with sensitive skin may alleviate the impact of the spikes by using a thin cloth or other material. Direct use of the Shivamata is recommended only when the skin is adapted to the pressure of the spikes. Contact with the Shivamata may be accompanied by natural and mild pain which quickly changes into a feeling of comfort and warmth. The Shivamata MAY be used by persons suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure. It CANNOT be used by pregnant women or with heart disease.
